Eroğlu: “The subject of ‘Hellim’ is an important and sensitive subject”
During his reception of the delegation of Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Industry (TCCI) under the Presidency of Ali Çıralı, TRNC President Dr. Derviş Eroğlu stated that the subject of hellim (halloumi) is an important and sensitive subject and expressed that due to the changes in the EU management they should make consultations with the EU again
Stating that a food product produced in both sides in Cyprus should be negotiated in such a way that the rights of both sides are protected, Eroğlu added that the under-secretariat of the Presidency is ready to assist on this subject and Turkish Cypriots should insistently show their rightfulness to the EU.
President of TCCI – Ali Çıralı pointed out that Greek Cypriot side has registered the name of hellim first in South Cyprus then in the European Union and added that if the rightfulness of Turkish Cypriots is not put forth and the Turkish side is not involved in the process, the name of ‘hellim’ cannot be used in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the export will stop.
Çıralı expressed that if such developments are experienced, the economy will be seriously damaged.
2nd phase of Peace Operation will be celebrated with ceremonies
Ceremonies will be held in Gazimağusa, Serdarlı, and Lefke for the anniversary of the 2nd Phase of the Peace Operation. Martyrs of Muratağa, Atlılar and Sandallar will also be commemorated today. The 40th anniversary of the liberation of Serdarlı will be celebrated today and the liberation of Gazimagusa will be celebrated tomorrow while the liberation of Lefke will be celebrated on Saturday 16th August.
TR Forest and Water Works Minister Eroğlu :“Installation of pipelines in deep sea will start next week and will be completed in 75 days”
TR Forest and Water Works Minister – Veysel Eroğlu said that within the framework of the ‘TRNC Water Supply Project’ installation of pipelines in deep sea will start next week and will be completed in 75 days. Eroğlu stressed that in order to meet the water need of the TRNC which has suffered from water shortage for many years they will bring 75 billion cubic meters of water to the island through 107 kilometre long pipelines under the sea.
Eroğlu recorded that within the framework of the ‘TRNC Water Supply Project’, Alaköprü Dam in Turkey and Geçitköy Dam in the TRNC has been completed in the scheduled time.
