Eroğlu: “We should move faster”

President Derviş Eroğlu said that they expected to move faster during the negotiations which have been continuing on the issue of Cyprus because nobody has the right to keep the Turkish Cypriots under isolation and embargoes anymore.

President Derviş Eroğlu answered the questions of the Cyprus Turkish Dervis Eroglu 11News Agency (TAK) regarding the Cyprus negotiation process.

Stressing that the screening process of negotiations has been completed and chapters will start to be discussed, President Eroğlu said that sides will put forth their views regarding all issues and then bridging ideas will be discussed. Indicating that there are convergences between the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot views, President Eroğlu said that these convergences should not be disregarded.

Moreover, stating that he will express his views regarding the negotiation process during his meeting with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, President Eroğlu said that the UN should not support the Greek Cypriots’ long lasting delaying tactics and intransigence .

Foreign Minister Nami: “Ankara visit was very fruitful”

Minister of Foreign Affairs – Özdil Nami returned to the island after completing his contacts in Ankara. Stating that his contaOzdil Nami image 3cts were very fruitful, FM Nami gave the message that his contacts with Turkish authorities on the issues of EU harmonization work and the Cyprus problem will continue.

In his statement to BRT at Ercan Airport, FM Nami said that his meetings were very fruitful.

“We have exchanged views regarding the latest stage reached in the negotiations, support given for our European Union harmonization works and how to take a step further and the other issues regarding bilateral relations. We have also taken some decisions to actualize these with concrete projects. In this respect, the Ankara visit was very fruitful” Nami added.

Foreign Minister Nami met with Atalay and Davutoğlu

Within the framework of his contacts in Ankara, Foreign Minister Nami met with the Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Responsible for Cyprus Affairs – Beşir Atalay and the Turkish Foreign Minister – Ahmet Davutoğlu yesterday.

Foreign Minister Nami met with Atalay at the Turkish Prime Ministry. Nami informed Atalay regarding the latest stage reached in the negotiation process and evaluated the negotiation process. Moreover, Nami informed Atalay regarding the studies of the government.Ahmet Davutoğlu 2

In his speech, Atalay said that the contributions of Nami greatly supported the negotiation process and his contacts abroad strengthened the hand of the President at the negotiation table.

Furthermore, Nami met with the Turkish Foreign Minister – Ahmet Davutoğlu at the Residence of the Foreign Ministry.

Foreign Minister Nami informed Davutoğlu regarding the latest stage reached in the Cyprus negotiations. Nami also expressed his own evaluation of the process and the developments up to  today. Nami also gave information about the studies of the Foreign Affairs Ministry and contacts abroad up to today.

During his reception, Davutoğlu expressed his satisfaction for Nami’s contributions towards the Cyprus negotiation process, his relations developed with foreign missions in the island and his positive initiatives made during his contacts abroad.
