Thursday, January 16th 2014; Friendly TATLISU 0 – ESENTEPE 0

Played at Dr Ali Ozsoy Stadium.

This was a repeat of last week’s match which also ended in a draw, but this was a more drab affair on a cold January afternoon. Overhaul Tatlısu had more possession and territory, but it was Esentepe who had the clearer chances. Tatlısu almost took the lead in the 5th minute when Esentepe’s Sergen lost possession of the ball, but the Tatlısu forward lobbed the ball over the keeper, only to hit the bar and go over. For Esentepe Basak’s header was comfortably saved and the same player shot over after a good ball fromEsentepe Football Club Umar. Umar was in action again at the other end making a great defensive tackle when Tatlısu threatened.

In the second half Esentepe made a number of changes, Tatlısu looked dangerous but failed to create anything to really trouble Ali in the Esentepe goal. It was Esentepe who created the chances, firstly after a good move a Tatlısu defender almost put through his own goal, and then the speedy Emrah was put through twice, his first attempt was blocked by the keeper, and his second attempt he screwed his shot wide. For Esentepe captain Berkan was steady. In midfield Burak got through a lot of work, and when he came on in the second half Ilyass made some telling contributions against his old club.

The League season re-commences on Saturday, January 25th and Esentepe have one more friendly match left on Saturday, Jan 18th against Girne Halk Evi at the Stadium opposite the Pia Belle Hotel in Girne, kick off 2-30pm.
