NCCCT Presentation to Girne
State Hospital

What a wonderful start to 2014 when on the 3rd January the North Cyprus Cancer Charity Trust (NCCCT) made yet another presentation of equipment to Girne State Hospital. There were 
the usual familiar faces of NCCCT, Chair – Angela Hasman, Vice Chair – Pauline Collins, Secretary – Laura Curry and others who spend a lot of their time helping to raise funds to achieve the purchase of necessary and vital equipment.
Also at the ceremony to receive the equipmet on behalf of the hospital was TRNC Health Minister, Dr. Ahmet GÜLLE and Girne State Hospital, Head Doctor, Dr Salih Beyoğlu and for them this must have been the best New Year’s present they could receive.
This equipment is a Covidien Machine which is to be used in the areas of Breast Cancer and Thyroid problems and at a cost of 43,000TL this equipment is going to be a great asset to the hospital. Dr Koral Ҫağman of Girne State Hospital and Near East University Hospital, who attended the presentation, said the equipment will also be used for Abdominal/Colon cancer and although its main use is for cancer patients it will also be available for any other types of operations. The equipment will be used in the operation process for sealing tissue and vessels and will greatly reduce the timescales of operations 
which is imperative particularly in the case of cancer patients having to undergo surgery.
Thank goodness for the charity work people are doing, voluntarily, to ensure that the State Hospitals have up-to-date equipment and technology to meet the needs of the community. If not for these dedicated people, I wonder how we would all fare in the unfortunate event that surgery or hospital treatment is required.
