DOWNER’S DINNER WITH REPRESENTATIVES

TRNC President Eroğlu’s Special Representative and Spokesman, Osman Ertuğ and Andreas Mavroyannis who was appointed as the Greek Cypriot negotiator came together at the buffer zone.

The dinner which was hosted by the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advisor on Cyprus, Alexander Downer, at Chateau Status Restaurant at 19.30 in the buffer zone lasted for three hours. Downer and Mavroyannis were accompanied by their assistants and Ertuğ was accompanied by Gunes Onar from the negotiation delegation during the dinner.

The UN Secretary General’s Special Representative on Cyprus Lisa Buttenheim also attended the dinner.

Delivering a short speech to the press after the dinner, Presidential Special Representative Osman Ertuğ said that they decided not to talk in detail to the press and he recorded that they discussed how the leaders will be engaged in the negotiation process during the dinner.

Ertuğ stated that although the exact date for launching the negotiations has not been set yet, the Turkish Cypriot side wants the negotiations to launch in October.

Stating also that it was a good meeting in a positive atmosphere, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advisor on Cyprus, Alexander Downer, expressed that; the two leaders will start a new process and period in October.

Stating that he is going to Turkey on Thursday and coming together with TR Foreign Affairs Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Friday, Downer indicated that he will come together again with the two leaders today.

TRNC PARTICIPATES IN ‘TOUR NATUR 2013’ TOURISM FAIR IN GERMANY

Tour NaturThe Deputy Prime Ministry and Economy, Tourism, Culture and Sports Ministry participated in the ‘Tour Natur 2013’ Tourism Fair held in Germany’s Dusseldorf city. According to the statement, the fair was organized between 6-8 September in Germany. Within the framework of the fair, North Cyprus Tourism Office in Germany gave information about walking tracks in North Cyprus and distributed various brochures and promotional materials prepared on the issue.
