12th March – TuesdayNCCCT logo

13th March – WednesdayFriends of the TRNC Emergency Services

Welcome back the Friends of the TRNC Emergency Services Afternoon Tea Talks.  3pm at The Mountain View Hotel and the speaker will be Steve Sydenham  with a talk “Characters from the Motor Racing World, the Good the Bad and the Ugly”.  We understand Mike has a new source of salt and pepper pots so beware! 

13th March – WednesdayOzankoy Bookshop

Ozankoy Bookshop will be hosting a talk to be given by the Manager and team from TEB Bank to discuss personal banking in the TRNC.  For further information call 0392 815 2853

The Royal British Legion, Kyrenia Branch are proud to present a 3-night music and dance show – Broadway and Beyond directed by Mark Lake.  This will be at the Girne Cultural Centre and curtain up will be 7.45pm.  For further information see poster or telephone 0533 859 2451.  Friday and Saturday night are almost sold out but there are still some seats available for the Thursday night performance.  The Box Office and Events Secretary will not be taking any more bookings after 12 noon on 9th March.

15th March – FridayBird

7.30pm at the Bedesten, Nicosia.   3 Russian artists, Pjotr Meshvinski (cello) Leonid Rabinovich (viola) and Rauf Kasimov (piano) reunite after 30 years and celebrate with a joint recital.  Tickets 25TL from Deniz Plaza (Kyrenia & Nicosia), Bestseller Bookshop in Kyrenia, Kybele Restaurant in Bellapais, Bellapais Abbey Ticket Office.  The concert is in support of Kușkor, the North Cyprus Society for the Protection of Birds and Nature.

16th March – Saturday Hope Orchestra

There will be a Hope Orchestra Concert (Umut Orkestrasi Konseri) at 8pm at the Yakin Dogu Universitesi, Ataturk Kultur ve Kongre Merkezi.

16th and 17th March Saturday and SundayTulips roadside display

Tepebașı Tulip Festival starting at 10.30am.  This annual event is very popular and there will be stalls with local crafts and traditional food.  Folk dancing and a chance to see the Phoenix Line Dancers giving a display of their dancing.

17th March – SundayRussian Pancake

There will be a Russian Fair at Bariș Park, Girne to celebrate Maslenitsa (also known as Pancake Week) starting at 12 noon with a concert at 1pm.  There will be stalls selling a variety of items and of course pancakes!   There will be a lot of singing and dancing and this will be a nice way to see how other cultures celebrate their festivals.  See article by clicking here.

18th March – MondayNCCCT logo

NCCCT Bingo Night at The Ravine, Alsancak.  A book of 6 cards @ 35TL. Free raffle and the famous Mars bars for the winners.  The rollover jackpot stands at 1,200TL so why not come along – you may be the lucky winner.

Help Those with Cancer Association (Tulips) have a “card making” day at the Ravine Bar & Restaurant, Alsancak between 10.30am and 4 pm.  Volunteers are needed to help to re-cycle the cards, especially people with card making experience.  A lunch of chicken Goujons & Chips, Fish & Chips or Meze will be available for 15TL (5TL of this will be donated to Tulips by The Ravine).  Please contact tulipscarole@yahoo.com or telephone 0533 873 1693 if you can help or just go along and see what you can do to assist.

The Friends of the TRNC Emergency Services will be holding their monthly quiz night at The Ravine in Alsancak. 7pm for a 7.30pm start.  15TL includes a meal of Fish & Chips or Chicken Shish, which can be chosen on the night.

The Consular Section of the British High Commission will be giving a presentation of their role in Cyprus and this will be held at The English School of Kyrenia at 5pm when Consular staff will be available to answer questions.

The Black Olive Cafe will be there selling a variety of sandwiches, coffee and cakes and Michelle will be selling kites.

The Cowbridge Male Voice Choir (from Wales) will be performing at Bellapais Abbey.  The concert starts at 8pm and tickets are 15TL per person which includes a free glass of wine or soft drink.  Tickets can be obtained from the Tulips stall at Lambousa Saturday market and the Karakum and Alsancak Best Seller Bookshops. The concert is in aid of Help Those with Cancer Association (Tulips).

5th April – FridayOlive Press Flat Green Bowling

The Olive Press will be holding a Spot the Intro Quiz starting at 8pm.  Should be a good night’s entertainment.

7th April – SundayBicycle border

4th Lapta Municipality Cycle Tour starting at 10am from Alsancak Akcan Cycle Shop.  The route will be St Hilarion – Kozan Picnic area.  Bicycles will be available for rent at 20TL each.  There will be a meal after the cycle tour at Kozan Picnic Restaurant at 25TL per person.  Minimum age to take part 15 years old.  If anyone requires to rent a bicycle or book a meal this must be done by 5th April.  For more information contact Berke Ertopaloğlu on 0533 834 9878

11th April – ThursdayFriends of the TRNC Emergency Services

The Friends of the TRNC Emergency Services will be holding their Annual Ball at the Rocks Hotel, Girne.    Tickets will be 120TL per person and includes a 4-course meal and local drinks.  There will be live music and entertainment.  Dress – Black Tie/Lounge Suit.  To book for this very popular annual event call Brenda on 0533 840 7834 or Jenny on 0533 876 1483 or call at the stall at Lambousa Saturday market. 13th April – SaturdayBritish Residents

The British Residents’ Association will be holding their Annual General Meeting at The Dome Hotel, Girne starting at 11am.  This will be followed by a Spring Lunch and tickets are available at the BRS stall Lambousa Market – Lapta. The Hut – Girne on Saturdays from 10am to 12 noon, and at Cafe George – Girne on Wednesdays from 10am to 12 noon.

20th April – SaturdayKANSERLOGOTURKISH sml

This will be the 3rd Esentepe Fun Run and will be in memory of George Roper who died in 2012 and was the instigator of the original event to raise funds for Help Those with Cancer Association (Tulips). The route will take the “old shore” road between the Carrington main office (co-located with Magic Bar) and the main junction to Esentepe.  The runs will be 2k starting at 10am (registration 08.30), 10k starting at 11am (registration 9am) and 5k starting at 12 noon (registration 9.30am).  The 2k and 5k will be on the shore route and the 10k will follow the same route but will have 40m on the main road.

The Olive Press will be celebrating their 1st birthday with a bowls competition from 9am until around 4pm and in the evening there will be a party starting at 8pm.  Tickets will firstly be available to members but after 22nd February any remaining tickets will be available to anyone who would like to attend.
