Welcome back the Friends of the TRNC Emergency Services Afternoon Tea Talks.  3pm at The Mountain View Hotel and the speaker will be Steve Sydenham  with a talk “Characters from the Motor Racing World, the Good the Bad and the Ugly”.  We understand Mike has a new source of salt and pepper pots so beware!

The Royal British Legion, Kyrenia Branch are proud to present a 3-night music and dance show – Broadway and Beyond directed by Mark Lake.  This will be at the Girne Cultural Centre and curtain up will be 7.45pm.  For further information see poster or telephone 0533 859 2451.  Friday and Saturday night are almost sold out but there are still some seats available for the Thursday night performance.  The Box Office and Events Secretary will not be taking any more bookings after 12 noon on 9th March.

7.30pm at the Bedesten, Nicosia.   3 Russian artists, Pjotr Meshvinski (cello) Leonid Rabinovich (viola) and Rauf Kasimov (piano) reunite after 30 years and celebrate with a joint recital.  Tickets 25TL from Deniz Plaza (Kyrenia & Nicosia), Bestseller Bookshop in Kyrenia, Kybele Restaurant in Bellapais, Bellapais Abbey Ticket Office.  The concert is in support of Kușkor, the North Cyprus Society for the Protection of Birds and Nature.

There will be a Hope Orchestra Concert (Umut Orkestrasi Konseri) at 8pm at the Yakin Dogu Universitesi, Ataturk Kultur ve Kongre Merkezi.

Tepebașı Tulip Festival starting at 10.30am.  This annual event is very popular and there will be stalls with local crafts and traditional food.  Folk dancing and a chance to see the Phoenix Line Dancers giving a display of their dancing.

There will be a Russian Fair at Bariș Park, Girne to celebrate Maslenitsa (also known as Pancake Week) starting at 12 noon with a concert at 1pm.  There will be stalls selling a variety of items and of course pancakes!   There will be a lot of singing and dancing and this will be a nice way to see how other cultures celebrate their festivals.  See article by clicking here.

NCCCT Bingo Night at The Ravine, Alsancak.  A book of 6 cards @ 35TL. Free raffle and the famous Mars bars for the winners.  The rollover jackpot stands at 1,200TL so why not come along – you may be the lucky winner.

The Consular Section of the British High Commission will be giving a presentation of their role in Cyprus and this will be held at The English School of Kyrenia at 5pm when Consular staff will be available to answer questions.

The Black Olive Cafe will be there selling a variety of sandwiches, coffee and cakes and Michelle will be selling kites.

The Cowbridge Male Voice Choir (from Wales) will be performing at Bellapais Abbey.  The concert starts at 8pm and tickets are 15TL per person which includes a free glass of wine or soft drink.  Tickets can be obtained from the Tulips stall at Lambousa Saturday market and the Karakum and Alsancak Best Seller Bookshops. The concert is in aid of Help Those with Cancer Association (Tulips).

The British Residents’ Association will be holding their Annual General Meeting at The Dome Hotel, Girne starting at 11am.  This will be followed by a Spring Lunch and tickets are available at the BRS stall Lambousa Market – Lapta. The Hut – Girne on Saturdays from 10am to 12 noon, and at Cafe George – Girne on Wednesdays from 10am to 12 noon.

This will be the 3rd Esentepe Fun Run and will be in memory of George Roper who died in 2012 and was the instigator of the original event to raise funds for Help Those with Cancer Association (Tulips). The route will take the “old shore” road between the Carrington main office (co-located with Magic Bar) and the main junction to Esentepe.  The runs will be 2k starting at 10am (registration 08.30), 10k starting at 11am (registration 9am) and 5k starting at 12 noon (registration 9.30am).  The 2k and 5k will be on the shore route and the 10k will follow the same route but will have 40m on the main road.

The Olive Press will be celebrating their 1st birthday with a bowls competition from 9am until around 4pm and in the evening there will be a party starting at 8pm.  Tickets will firstly be available to members but after 22nd February any remaining tickets will be available to anyone who would like to attend.
