KADS keep on Playing
By Chris Elliott
So often in life we lose sight of the past and what has been achieved so it is great that on cyprusscene.com we have an opportunity to not only share but also preserve for the future, the great achievements of the past.
Margaret and I have had the opportunity of going to number of plays performed by the Kyrenia Amateur Dramatic Society (KADS) and to also write about these in the newspaper and now on our blog website where they are available for the world to see for ever.
It is a great pleasure that we have been given a very extensive KADS profiles and photograph collections depicting their history by fellow writer Tony Woods to share with our readers. So, do please read on, click and enjoy the masterpiece of this great collection of North Cyprus cultural history.
As you will find, the history of KADS is graphically told through newspaper cuttings, pictures and posters which make fascinating reading and Tony appeals for any of our readers to provide for copying, any further information so we can update this incredible story of the local arts and people’s contribution to other people’s pleasure.
Not only that but we have also included links to many radio transmissions of plays by BRT – Bayrack Radio and Television.
With the support of the Girne Belediyesi, the Mayor, Sumer Aygin and Cultural Director Serdar Tuksal, the KADS group have continued to develop their work like fine wine which has matured with age. It is also important to note the number of plays that have been performed on radio with the kind support of Bayrak Radio and Television and the unrelenting support from Can Gazi, presenter and DJ extraordinaire.
Let us all say thank you to all of those involved for preserving this little bit of very important and enjoyable history that is KADS – Kyrenia Amateur Dramatic Society and for the work that they do to raise support for others .
