The President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has stated that it should be known very well that Turkey is committed to protecting the rights of both Turkey and the TRNC in relation to the hydrocarbon reserves in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu stated yesterday that the TRNC and the Turkish Cypriot people are entitled to the reserves around the island of Cyprus, and that this right must be guaranteed. Therefore, Turkey will not allow unilateral exploration activities by the Greek Cypriot side.
