EROGLU: ‘ TURKISH FOREIGN MINISTRY’S VIEWS ARE VERY IMPORTANT FOR US’

President Derviș Eroğlu received the delegation of the Turkish Foreign Ministry under the leadership of Turkish Ambassador Necip Egüz. Turkish Ambassador to Lefkosa, Halil Ibrahim Akca also took place in the delegation. Undersecretary Hasan Gungor and the Special Representative and the Presidential Spokesman Osman Ertuğ also participated in the meeting.

In his speech during the meeting, Eroğlu noted that negotiations have been continuing at the technical level and added that they have been evaluating the Presidential election campaign started in the Greek Cypriot side.

Adding that UN Secretary General’s Special Advisor for Cyprus, Alexander Downer, will come to the island soon, Eroğlu said that they wonder at the views of Downer. Stressing that they have evaluated the developments between each other, Eroğlu said that they discussed the steps to be taken together with the delegation of the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

Expressing that it is always very important for us to take the views of mainland Turkey before determining a road map, Eroğlu said that they gathered for this meeting to fulfil this important mission.

President Eroğlu also wished success to the Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu during the meeting.

Moreover, in his speech during the meeting, Turkish Ambassador Necip Egüz stated that they arrived here to discuss the developments about the future and they are very glad to be in the TRNC and to meet with the President.
