Erdoğan: Turkish Cypriot Sovereign Equality Must Be Recognised
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has used talks with UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham in New York to reinforce Türkiye’s position on the Cyprus issue.
Meeting on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, the two leaders discussed Türkiye-UK relations alongside regional and global developments.
On Cyprus, Erdoğan was unequivocal: there can be no successful formula for the island without recognition of the Turkish Cypriot people’s sovereign equality and international status.
