Kyrenia House on the Hill owned by Lady Daphne Barnes or Makarios
Oz Orman of Morton Park FC Productions, following extensive research, has produced a new video about the house on the hill near Kyrenia in Cyprus. While many travellers between Kyrenia and Nicosia may recognise this landmark, its ownership has remained largely unknown. This video marks the beginning of the story behind its proprietors.
Conjecture Cyprus – The Story of Lady Daphne Barnes and the House on the Hill.
From Oz Orman – MPFC Productions
“The mind revels in conjecture. Where information is lacking, it will gladly fill in the gaps.”
James Geary. When travelling up the main highway between Kyrenia and Nicosia, you may notice a house on a hill on your left. It is secluded and lies within the foothills of the Kyrenia Mountain Range, just before the main road arcs to the right. When you ask someone who lived/lives there, you get the usual flippant response of, “That’s Makarios’s House.” But was it?
This is the story of the House on the Hill, its original owner, the so-called English eccentric woman, Lady Daphne Barnes, and the history of the property and the area. There is a lot of conjecture about the house, but thorough research was carried out to establish its origins and the people behind it.
This is the story of the House on the Hill in the video below.. Further research continues.
