Arkın Fest24’ Started at Ozanköy Molasses Festival
‘Girne Arkın Group Fest24’ Kicked Off with Ozanköy Molasses Festival
The 16th Ozanköy Molasses Festival, on Friday, August 30th, marked the beginning of ‘Arkın Group Girne Fest24’, organized by Girne Municipality with the main sponsorship of Merit International. The festival, which saw a large turnout, featured food and beverage stalls, folk dance performances, live music events, and various seminars. The festival, which began with an opening speech by Girne Mayor Murat Şenkul, continued until 22:30.
A Packed Opening… The first event of the festival was a harp recital by Deniz Aker Zeytincioğlu. After the serving of şıra (a traditional Turkish drink made from grape juice), the Girne Municipality Folk Dance Ensemble took the stage at 20:15. Following a speech by Mehmet Atak, the Chief of the Parks and Gardens Department of Girne Municipality and Agricultural Engineer, entitled “The Black Gold of the Mediterranean: Carob”, the night continued with a folk dance performance by the Orak Culture, Arts, and Education Center. The final event of the night was a concert by Dilara Ferit at 21:00.
The second night of the festival, on Saturday, began at 19:00 with a presentation and poetry recital by Mustafa Ergüven on the topic of “The Life and Poetry of Space Poet Osman Türkay”, presented by Tuncay Özdoğanoğlu. The evening continued with a folk dance performance by the Girne Young Art Lovers Association and a presentation by Naile Soyel, Deputy Director of Girne Municipality and Food Engineer, entitled “The Health Benefits of Molasses”. Following a contemporary dance performance by Nicosia Dance House at 20:45, Hikmet Kurtarıcıoğlu took the stage for the closing concert.
