ARIKLI: WE WILL SAVE FOTA FROM BEING A DEAD END
Minister of Public Works and Transport Erhan Arıklı stated that the Dağyolu (Fota) village road has been completed and the dirt road that provides access from the village to the Nicosia-Güzelyurt Main Road will be asphalted, and said, “We will save Fota from being a dead end.”
Arıklı stated that he is pleased that the road, which has been needed by the people of the village for 30 years, was built during his government and said that their aim is to serve the public.
Minister of Public Works and Transport Arıklı thanked the company officials, noting that a one-month period was given to complete the works in the tender specification of the Dağyolu village road, but the contractor company managed to complete the project in 16 days.
Minister Arıklı, who visited the village due to the end of the works on the Dağyolu village road, first went to the Dağyoly Turkish Sports Club and chatted with the citizens.
Arıklı, who later examined the road works, was accompanied by the Director of the Highways Department, Kazım Kafaoğlu, and the village headman, Mustafa Arabavuşoğlu.
Arıklı, who made a statement here, pointed out that the 3.4-kilometer road was built with the Highways Department’s own means, and emphasized the importance of meeting the needs of the residents of Dağyolu, one of the most important Turkish villages on the island.
“THE PRIME MINISTER’S WORD IS OUR WORD”
Speaking on the promise made to them by Prime Minister Ünal Üstel to the citizens of Dağyolu, Arıklı said, “The Prime Minister’s word is our word. The necessary resources for the asphalting of the dirt road connecting the south of the village to the Nicosia-Güzelyurt Main Road will be added to the 2025 budget. We will save Fota from becoming a dead end,” he said.
In his speech, the village muhtar Mustafa Arakavuşoğlu expressed his satisfaction with the road construction that the village needs. Thanking everyone who contributed to the process, Arabavuşoğlu noted that the grievances of the people of the village were eliminated by building the road at an early time, and thanked Minister Arıklı, his team and everyone who contributed on behalf of the people of the village.
