TRNC Presidency: “The mandate of Holguin was not extended”

TRNC Presidency made a statement on news reports claiming that there will be an extension of Holguin Cuellar’s term in Office. The statement is as follows:

“The news in the Greek Cypriot press about the extension of the mandate of the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General, Maria Angela Holguin Cuellar, does not reflect the truth.

UN sources have also verified that the news is not true.

Our esteemed President had given his consent to this appointment, provided that it was limited to a period not exceeding six months, and he will continue to work constructively with the Personal Envoy in the remaining 1 month.”
