Silk Cocoon Festival ‘Education Project’ raised awareness. ‘Education Project’ was realized within the scope of the Bellapais Silk Cocoon Festival, which was held for the 19th time this year. The project, which was implemented under the leadership of the Green Peace Movement and with the contributions of the Ministry of National Education and Girne Municipality, is aimed at students studying in primary schools in the Girne region; ‘silkworm’, ‘silkworm rearing’ and ‘silk cocoons’; It allowed to convey topics such as culture, art, tourism and production and their importance in our country.
Within the scope of the project, which has been going on for two years and came to life by visiting schools, students were shown a short video explaining the life cycle of the silkworm; Information about the life cycle was given. In addition, it is aimed to raise awareness in students from an early age through training that offer the opportunity to examine silkworms closely.
ONE TREE FOR EVERY SCHOOL
Another aim of the project is to increase the number of trees in our country, which is decreasing day by day, and most importantly, to restore the number of white mulberry trees, which are the source of life for silkworms, to the old days; It was stated that at least one white mulberry tree was planted by students in every school visited.
