Princess is saved and cared for

A SPECİAL PRINCESS – WHO DESERVES A ROYAL TOUCH.

By Richard Beale….

Princess that is what we have named and she is a special “ Princess” to us and one of our success stories.

In September 2023 she was seen around the football stadium looking in a very sorry state. She eventually made her way up to the Dog centre (she was not dumped there, not left there or tied to the gate), she came because she needed help, she had virtually given up on life.

Animal Care

We have seen on TV horrifying photos/videos of animals on the RSPCA advert, Princess was one of those, a walking Skeleton. She was too frightened to come near the compound, she hid in the woods but we made sure we left food and water out for her. Eventually she got more confident, got close enough for one of our volunteers to bring her inside of the compound.

There we could see the full extent of her ailments skeleton thin, you could see her ribs, her backbone, scars, lesions, no fur she couldn’t open her eyes properly. We immediately put her into quarantine and called our local vet to come up and examine her.

ŞERİFE GÜRBÜZER, who lives in the village and has a practice in Girne came up and did tests, took blood, gave vaccines and advised us what to feed her.

As expected when the blood tests came back, Princess had contracted Leishmania and other minor blood problems. Leishmania is caused by the animal being bitten by sandfly which then attacks the dogs vital organs. It is incurable but can be controlled by medicine.

The cost of the “chemotherapy “ treatment (that’s what it is Chemo) is 280 Euros, for each Dog!

That amount would have seriously dented our funds, this is where EMPERİA stepped in to help. SERMİN and SEZGİN TALŞIK from EMPERİA offered to pay for the Chemo treatment.

Give a dog a Home

Now the Chemo is finished, Princess is a healthy dog again, now fit and well enough for us to start looking for a permanent loving home, she deserves it what she has been through.

She is now well enough to have her normal vaccinations and has been spayed.

Princess is a Beagle, around 2 years old, loves cuddles and has so much love to give she doesn’t deserve a life locked up in a cage for 22 hours a day – surely someone out there can give her that.
