Work has begun on the ‘Kordonboyu Renewal Project,’ one of Girne Mayor Murat Şenkul’s priority projects. In addition to the renovation of the Ancient Harbour and simultaneously the arrangement of the streets around the harbour, with the completion of the ‘Kordonboyu Renewal Project,’ the Ancient Harbour will have a new face.
100% Disabled Access
The recreation project, which will come to life between the Dome Hotel and the entrance to the Ancient Harbour, aims to create a social area suitable for the needs of both the local people and tourists. The social area, with one hundred percent disabled access, will include viewing terraces which people of all ages can easily access and enjoy.
Additional Services
The project will include additional services to meet the needs of the local people; facilities such as resting areas, disabled vehicle parking, and new WC facilities will be provided It is planned for the social area to be constantly monitored by security cameras and city security officers for daytime and night-time use.

Girne Mayor Murat Şenkul, on his social media account said the following on the start of the project: “We will not allow the ugliness in our country’s politics to lead us to despair. We would like to announce that work has begun for the Girne Kordonboyu, which has been waiting to be renovated for years. Girne Kordonboyu is beautiful in every way, but when the work we have started is finished, our country will gain a very special public area.”
