Girne Mayor’s New Year Message

Dear Citizens,

We have swiftly left behind a whole year, marking the first anniversary of my career’s exciting new beginning.

Since taking office, we have expedited the resolution of all the issues we promised before the election, and we continue to do so. I believe we all shared the same curiosity about what my election would bring for both you, the people, and myself. However, if there is a clear message I have seen at the end of a year, it is the dedication and unity displayed to improve Girne together!  In this sense, I want to express my gratitude to everyone for this busy and successful year we have spent together.

I won’t take up your time by detailing individual projects here. Throughout the year, we initiated, managed, and quickly concluded all the projects we aimed for with your valuable support…

I just want to emphasize that this year, 2024, is the year when our main projects will come to life. Until now, we have tried to lift the shadow of the past from Girne, and to some extent we have succeeded. Now it is time to realize our dreams and reach our main goals.  I owe my thanks to all the hardworking brothers and sisters who have never left me alone on the path we have taken so far and have shown dedication for more. Girne Municipality and Belpaz have rolled up their sleeves for a brand new Girne with their entire teams.

Let’s continue on the road for a brand new Girne together. Because we are together for Girne…

Dear Citizens,

This year, unfortunately, we experienced a tragic event that we cannot ignore and will live with a part of us until the end of our lives. I consider it a duty to mention this tragic event that occurred in Turkey on February 6 and darkened all our homes, and to commemorate all those who lost their lives in the earthquake, especially our Champion Angels, our children. This painful period, during which we tried to comfort lives as a united family, will not be erased from our memories.

And finally, Palestine,

Right next to us and in front of the eyes of the whole world, I feel obliged in this article to mention the brutally killed children and innocent people. My only wish is for the world to quickly rectify its mistakes and start raising its voice against the killing of innocent lives.

I wish for the year 2024 to pass peacefully, filled with days of joy and happiness worldwide. I extend my New Year wishes to all our citizens, especially my colleagues.
