A joint venture will be held with GÜDENMER within Girne Municipality and Kyrenia University Maritime Faculty in order to popularise the sea and seafaring.
A meeting was held between Girne Mayor Nidai Güngördü, Dean of Maritime Faculty of Kyrenia University Assoc. Dr. Fatih Hüseyinoğlu and Captain Enver Yetkili, Head of Kyrenia University Maritime Center (GÜDENMER). It was agreed that the contributions of the Dean of the Faculty of Maritime Affairs Dr. Fatih Hüseyinoğlu to create a “Marine Biology Museum” section in Girne City Museum, which is being built by Girne Municipality, would be accepted.
In addition, in the context of popularising maritime activities in cooperation with the Municipality and the University, it was discussed to bring a “Monumental Ship Anchor’ to Girne and to locate it at a suitable point in Girne Ancient Harbour. The anchor to be supplied by Kyrenia University Maritime Center.
Girne Mayor Nidai Güngördü said that he is pleased to cooperate with the university on maritime and maritime affairs in the Port City of Girne.
