The UN Security-Council has renewed the mandate of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) for six months.
The UN Security-Council voted in yesterday’s meeting to extend UNFICYP’s mandate, which was due to expire at the end of this month (January).
The Security-Council unanimously extended the mission of the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus until 31 July 2018.
UNFICYP is one of the longest-running UN Peacekeeping missions, which has operated in the island since 1964. Its mission is extended every six months by the Security-Council.
