The leader of the Peoples’ Party Kudret Özersay has said that it was of great importance who will be the next Speaker of Parliament as it had become possible to compare declarations of property and report to the Chief Prosecutors Office if any irregularities were detected.
Reminding that elected members of parliament had to declare how much property they had; Özersay said that it was important for this very reason who the next Speaker of Parliament will be.
“According to the law, the Speaker of Parliament can file a criminal complaint to the Attorney General’s office if he or she detects that elected MPs have unlawfully acquired or hidden property from the public. We as the Peoples’ Party will show the necessary sensitivity on this issue” he added.
