After a career in the film and television industry spanning some forty years, working on many commercials, tv drama’s and music videos, as a lighting cameraman and Director of Photography, it was time to take early retirement with my partner Trudy. So we upped sticks in the UK and moved to Northern Cyprus where we have now made our home.
After 14 years of being together this year Trudy finally agreed to marry me, but where? We needed a holiday, even though here in Northern Cyprus is like being on holiday 24/7 we wanted to get married in style. So after long deliberation we decided on Bali, we have travelled to many countries during our 14 years so we decided on Bali somewhere we have never been.
We decided on the Grand Hyatt Hotel a five star resort and the hotel could arrange our wedding, this was some 8 months ago. So on 3rd September we started our journey to Bali. The hotel had sorted everything, paperwork, permits and the venue. The venue was a beach wedding with lots of local flowers, Balinese girls, and of course the cake!
All that we needed to do when we arrived was go to the British 
Consulate in Denpasar to finalise the paperwork. This was a simple process and all went smoothly. The date we had fixed was 12th September a week later.
Wow and what a venue the hotel had organised. In true Hollywood style it was to take place on the beach. They erected a pergola which had an aisle of flower petals leading to it and flowers all round.
The day was as expected, glorious, and the day started with Champagne Brunch in our room, followed by Trudy taken to a bridal room to get ready, leaving me to fend for myself!!
The ceremony started with Trudy, who looked stunning, being led by the 6 Balinese girls in traditional costume and her son in law giving her away with Trudy’s granddaughter a bridesmaid and grandson the ring bearer. They played our listed music and the pastor greeted us with a very friendly smile. The actual marriage was quite short as we did not want a traditional style wedding and we made our own vows.
All went as planned with champagne and cake and then a photo shoot in the grounds of the Grand Hyatt, taken by our friend Meagan.
All in all a very magical day in true Hollywood style and many thanks to The Grand Hyatt for organising such a special day.
