Contract has been signed for reconstruction work on the Derinya road
A contract has been signed for reconstruction work on the Derinya road. According to the contract, the completion of the work will take around five months. The project is being fully funded by the European Union at a cost of around €938,000 and the works will cover the section of the road in the northern part of Cyprus.
The tender for the Lefke-Aplıç crossing had been re-launched and will close on Friday this week.
The dispute amongst Greek Cypriot politicians on Ercan Airport continues
The dispute amongst Greek Cypriot politicians following reports of increased passenger traffic at Ercan Airport is continuing. The Greek Cypriot Fileleftheros newspaper reported that DISI leader Averof Neofitu and DIKO leader Nikolas Papadopulu have been involved in the ongoing argument for two days and strong divisions have been experienced between the two party leaders.
According to the news, DIKO’s statement regarding its proposal to introduce administrative sanctions and implementation of the EU norms was rejected by AKEL and DISI, which caused a backlash from Neofitu and his party.
