Mausoleum for Rauf Raif Denktaş

Work will start this year on the construction of a mausoleum for the late Founding TRNC President Rauf Raif Denktaş.

The news was announced by his son, Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance Serdar Denktaş.

A delegation from the Society of Martyrs’ Families and Disabled War Veterans visited Minister Denktaş yesterday.

Speaking during the visit, the President of the Society Ertan Ersan said it was saddening to see that a mausoleum for the late Founding President Denktaş had not yet been built.

He said that the construction of the mausoleum should begin as soon as possible.

He also added that listening to the views of Minister Denktaş on the course of the negotiations process was important for them.

Denktaş for his part said that they had received the plans and cost of the mausoleum adding that construction work will start within this year.

Touching upon the negotiations process, Denktaş said “when we look at the Greek Cypriot side’s statements, they are saying and doing everything to prevent a solution despite all our good intentions.”
