Atalay and Porfyrios made a speech at the Human Rights Council
President of Religious Affairs Prof.Dr.Talip Atalay and Bishop Porfyrios on behalf of Archbishop Hrisostomos in the name of Church of Cyprus made a speech at the 31st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council.
Within the framework of the session, Atalay and Porfyrios attended some meetings and presentations as well as their speeches entitled “Interreligious Communication, Freedom of Religion and Peacebuilding”
The session concluded that the interreligious dialogue for human rights and peace in Cyprus must go on and should further broaden its ownership in Cyprus; the perspectives towards the region and self-understanding of diversity in Cyprus.
Saner: “Associating the EU’s Turkey report with the Cyprus issue is unacceptable”
UBP Gazimağusa Deputy Hamza Ersan Saner said that Turkey’s report was prepared with the impact of the Greek and Greek Cypriot parliamentarians. Indicating that associating the EU’s Progress Report for Turkey with the Cyprus issue will never be accepted, Saner stated that the convergences with the Turkish Cypriots should be valid not what is written in the report about the issues related to the solution of the Cyprus problem.
Stressing that the Greek Cypriot side should accept that the Turkish side is the address of an expected settlement, Saner expressed that Greek Cypriot EU parliamentarians should give up ignoring the joint text signed by their leaders with their Greek counterparts.
TRNC stand selected as the 9th best stand
The TRNC was awarded as the 9th best stand at the ITB Berlin 2016 Tourism Fair which is known as the world’s largest tourism fair. Over 5 thousand stands from 187 countries had taken place at the fair which was held between the dates of 9-13 March in Berlin, Germany.
Traditional Cypriot houses were enacted and traditional foods were exhibited at the TRNC stand.
