Düzkaya Too Good For Esentepe.
A Düzkaya side including 4 ex-Esentepe players and managed by an ex-Esentepe Coach proved too strong for Esentepe and took all 3 points in this local derby match.
Result : Esentepe KKSK 1 Düzkaya Kosk 3.
Saturday March 5th 2016 : K-Pet League 1 : @ Esentepe Erdal Barut Stadium.
Weather : Dry/ sunny cold stiff breeze.
Esentepe colours : Red/white check shirts, white shorts/socks.
Düzkaya colours : Blue shirts, red shorts/socks.
In the Düzkaya team were ex-Esentepe players, Ali, Ahmet, Uğurcan and Hüseyin Ermiş and all were managed by last seasons Esentepe Coach Cemal Kir. This and also being a derby match attracted a large crowd to the Esentepe Erdal Barut Stadium. After early heavy rain, the pitch surprisingly was in good condition.
With Esentepe Captain Berkan Arslan, missing this match through suspension, Esentepe Coach Gokan Kim made a bold decision by handing a first League start to 17 year old defender Tuğrulsan Günay.
Ex-Esentepe keeper Ali was brought into the game early making an instinctive save from Nersin following an Umar corner. The opening exchanges of the match were pretty even, Esentepe had two efforts within 2 minutes of each other. In the 32nd minute a long ball was chased down by Mehmet who volleyed over the bar. Then the same player two minutes later brought a good diving save from Ali, who tipped Mehmet’s lob shot from 30 yards over the bar.
However, Düzkaya virtually killed the game when they scored twice just before half-time. In the 44th minute, they were awarded a free-kick taken by Türkay which was charged down by the Esentepe defence. The ball fell to Uğurcan, who miss timed his shot, which seemed to flat-foot Esentepe keeper Tuğrul, who was slow to get down to the shot, so bobbled into the right hand corner of the net. Score :0-1.
On the stroke of half time they were 2-0 up through their leading goalscorer Yağis. A long ball into the Esentepe goal area, was chased down by Serkan, Tuğrul won the race for the ball, but instead of clearing it, managed only to meekly clear it to Yağis who with an unguarded goal made no mistake. score: 0-2.
Esentepe Coach, kept the team in the dressing room at half time and they were late taking to the field. It must have worked because they were unlucky to reduce the deficit in the opening minutes. Mehmet combining on the right with Emrah, sent the latter away and the striker put in a cross shot which hit the angle of the bar and post and rebounded to safety.
Then in the 49th minute good play by Emek and Eser, gave Emrah an opportunity and his shot was saved for a corner by Ali’s legs.
Esentepe made a double substitution in the 56th minute taking off Emrah and Mehmet and putting on Başak and Emre Soytürk. I was surprised by Emrah’s withdrawal as he looked very lively.
The changes were in vain as in the 59th minute Düzkaya scored again with a well taken goal. Ahmet produced a defence splitting ball, which their Captain Serkan unmarked latched onto sending a shot past the advancing Tuğrul.
Esentepe made a final substitution in the 72nd minute bringing on midfielder İlyas in place of Muhammed, this was İlyas’s first appearance of 2016 following an operation.
In the 82nd minute Esentepe reduced the arrears from the penalty spot. Eser breaking on the right put over a cross, which looked to fall perfectly for Başak, but keeper Ali came out and felled the striker earning him a booking. The dependable EMEK sent Ali the wrong way with his penalty. Score 1-3.
Would this be a start of a Esentepe late comeback, with İlyas prompting in midfield they certainly gave it a go. In the 85th minute a Umar cross was headed by Başak against Ali, the ball was partially cleared to Emre, with 2 defenders closing in on him, he hit a shot which brought a diving save from Ali. On the stroke of the final whistle Mahmut came inside and fired just over but this week there were no injury time goals for Esentepe. Full Time score: 1-3.UMMING UP :
A game too far for Esentepe, who in the last 3 matches, with a combination due to injuries of inexperienced teenagers and experienced seniors managed to ease their relegation worries. However this match the youngsters looked tired and too many senior players were off the pace. Handing the first two sloppy goals to Düzkaya didn’t help matters, and it was poor marking for the third goal. The performance was flat, and they missed Captain Berkan’s experience and motivation skills. His replacement Tuğrulsan, for me did no wrong on his debut and he was one of the few players to shine. The introduction of İlyas returning after injury, showed us what we have been missing. In a cameo role he passed the ball around sweetly and was also available in space.

After trailing at half time Esentepe scored twice to take lead through AÇIK PORTAKALI and Captain ASIL ARIF ENGIN, but Düzkaya equalised in the last 10 minutes.
