The trilateral Summit in Davos will be held today

President Mustafa Akıncı and the leader of the Greek Cypriot Administration Nikos Anastasiades will hold a trilateral meeting with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon today.

It is expected that a statement will be made after the meeting.

On the other hand; Akıncı is also expected to meet with the US Vice President Joe Biden during his stay in Davos.

President Mustafa Akıncı will also make a speech at a conference entitled ‘Cyprus’ before the trilateral meeting today.

The leader of the Greek Cypriot Administration Nikos Anastasiades and the UN Secretary General’s Special Adviser on Cyprus Espen Barth Eide will also speak at the conference.

Taçoy: “Greek – Greek Cypriot duo is not in search of a sincere agreement”

The Secretary General of the Democrat Party National Forces, Hasan Taçoy stated that the attitude of the Greek Cypriot and Greek Defence Ministers on the issue of guarantees show that they do not want a sincere solution in the island. Taçoy added that if a solution is desired, attacks on Turkey’s full and effective guarantee should stop.

In his written statement, Taçoy commented on the statements of the Greek Cypriot Defence Minister Hristoforos Fokaidis and Greek Defence Minister Panos Kammenos made at their meeting in the capital of Greece, Athens, that the 1960 guarantee system should be lifted in order to reach a solution in the island. Taçoy stressed that the Greek – Greek Cypriot duo is not in a sincere search for a solution in Cyprus and they proved this by their statements during their visit to Athens.

The Greek Cypriots spent 5 million Euros

The Greek Cypriots spent about 5 million Euros by credit cards for travelling to Turkey and entertainment and gambling in the TRNC, in 2015.

The Greek Cypriot daily Fileleftheros reported that according to the data obtained from JCC Company, the Greek Cypriots spent 1.2 million Euros for travelling to Turkey, 1.5 million Euros for gambling, and 2.3 million Euros for staying at hotels in the TRNC.

Reporting that totally the amount paid by credit cards was 5 million 158 thousand Euros for the hotels in the TRNC, for gambling and travelling to Turkey from Ercan, the newspaper noted that there was a small increase in spending in this category compared to 2014.

The newspaper also reported that when the amount spent in the same category in Turkey is also considered, the total amount spent reached to 8 million Euros.

The newspaper also noted that the Greek Cypriots spent 450,520 Euros for clothes and shoes by credit cards, 46,000 Euros for drugs in the health sector and 136,000 Euros for fuel.
