“Rain stopped play”

Squelching their way to the middle of the pitch, it didn’t take Cricket Ground Manager Tad Haigh and Umpire George Ward long to call off this Sunday’s 2 scheduled cricket matches at the Alsancak Stadium. Haigh explained they had got there early in the morning, to see if play was possible, but Saturday night’s continuous heavy rain had totally waterlogged the pitch. He said, it was so bad, even if it hadn’t rained again, it would have been impossible for it to have dried enough for any games that day.

Communications Manager Ian Fell told us the 2 postponed Creditwest Cricket League games would now be played on Sunday 1^st November at the Alsancak Stadium:
