Andrew sings….. with the
Lady and Lads In Red
Who could have failed to notice the town being painted red over the last few weeks as a high profile awareness campaign for badly needed blood donors has taken off in North Cyprus.
Andrew sings….. have joined ranks with the campaign and, given that one of Andrew’s favourite songs is the Chris De Burgh classic “Lady In Red” (which he performs regularly), the union between Andrew sings….. and the Lady and Lads In Red seemed rather inevitable. And last Sunday Peter Toms and Wendy Smith dropped in on Andrew and Glen at their gig in Rafters, Ozankoy in order to snap a few photos for use in promotional materials for the campaign.
So why all the hype ? Well the number of regular blood donors in the country has dwindled to alarmingly low numbers. The need for more donors has become a serious issue and the lack of blood is a real threat to lives. The simple act of regularly donating your blood is the difference between life and death for many people.
The gift of blood can be used to replace lost blood in the case of accident, surgery or following child-birth. It can be used in the treatment of anaemia, bone marrow failure, haemophilia, leukaemia and in many surgical procedures and post-operation treatments. The gift of blood is the gift of life !!
Therefore Andrew sings….. were delighted to accept when the Lady and Lads In Red asked them to get involved and use their talents to provide support for some of the many planned events being organised during 2015. And whilst they can’t personally be involved in every event (there are more than 30 planned during the year thus far), they have committed to participate wherever and whenever they can.
Andrew sings….. have confirmed they will be performing at a Gala Dinner and Ball on December 11th, along with their All Stars Agency Promotions colleague and friend Jamie Vincent (The Man In Black). This premier event, to be held at Kyrenia’s Savoy Ottoman Hotel, will be the grand finale and culmination of the year’s ambitious and exciting programme of events for the Lady and Lads In Red. And if you are planning on being there then listen out for that Chris De Burgh classic – always a popular end of evening ‘smoochie’ dance favourite.
