The Lady and Lads in Red,
that was the week that was!
By Peter Toms
As David Frost would say (that was the week that was) My eyes opened at 3am and this is normal while our campaign gains momentum.
Firstly at 9.00am and first stop at Girne Dr Akçiçek Hospital for a photo shoot in reception with Pru Lundie and Claire Morley from BRS (British Residents’ Society) and Senior Nurse Lena Mois (Girne Hospital) with Susie Forster (Cyprus Today) and
Chris Elliott from Cyprusscene.com there to record the fun and games.
Now I am seeing double? I have 2 Lady’s in Red, Wow its Uzlem, wife of George (Ali) Ferhatogluları, and she was in an eye popping Red dress representing Cafe George for our BRS, Lady and Lads in Red, TRNC Blood Awareness Weekend on 6th, 7th and 8th of February which is being held at Cafe George.
Thank you both Uzlem and George and also Jamie the Man in Black who will be playing and singing to us on Saturday 7th of February at this event in support of the Girne Hospital Blood Donor Day.
Next we go inside! Wow what a lovely Hospital, I had a real good look at this hospital on Tuesday after Wendy was rammed in her car by a very apologetic Turkish man who forgot that
TRNC drive on the left hand side of the road.
Poor Wendy only saw the ceiling in A and E but hey whiplash and a bad back even in a neck brace, you can’t stop a seasoned campaigner.
Next another photo shoot downstairs in the hospital’s administration offices with Head Doctor Dr. Salih Beyoğlu, the Hospital Matron Güliz Başaraner and Dr. Raif Hızal.
Intrepid as ever our own newsman, photographer and webmaster Chris Elliott sprang into action to record a 10 minute
interview with Pru Lundie and Dr Salih Beyoğlu which you can see in a video in a separate article very soon.
Thank you everybody there and then we left to go to Bayrak International Studios again for a lovely fun interview with Can Gazi. We will give a further report on Can’s radio programme which is due on air on his “Northern Exposure” show on Bayrak International on FM105 or you can listen by going to http://www.brtk.net at 5.00pm on Friday 30th January.
Ouch, I think it was a long day but so much fun and we will tell you more very soon..
