Turkish Prime Minister Davutoğlu “Let’s come together and make peace at once”

Turkish Prime Minister – Ahmet Davutoğlu, who paid his first official visit to the TRNC yesterday, made a call to Greece’s Prime Minister and Ahmet Davutoglu 2said “Let’s meet in the island, have tea in the South first then cross to the North. The Mediterranean has been the common sea of different civilizations and many nations. Let’s come together and make peace immediately”.

Davutoğlu also made a call to UN Secretary General’s Special Advisor on Cyprus – Espen Barth Eide and said “You have taken over the mission of Downer. In order to take the negotiation process to a final, efforts should be intensified. You should be present in the island more and do more shuttle diplomacy between the sides in Cyprus”.

Mentioning of the water project, Davutoğlu said they have been working on finding a specialised company to manage water that would be brought to the island and added that one of the ideas is making the municipalities shareholders. Davutoğlu also underlined that in the last 12-13 years, in parallel with Turkey, the TRNC has experienced a significant economic development.

Cyprus negotiations to continue between the leaders today

President Derviş Eroğlu and Greek Cypriot leader Eroglu and AnastasiadesNikos Anastasiades, who met at a working dinner last night, are meeting in the buffer zone today 17th September at 10.00.

 

South Cyprus is 19th among 28 countries in providing social justice

Bertelsman FoundationAccording to research done by German Bertelsman Foundation, in 28 EU member countries, South Cyprus came 19th with 5,09 point in providing social justice.

According to the Greek Cypriot daily Fileleftheros, the research was done comparing data belonging to EU member countries regarding; preventing poverty, access to education, access to working life, socialisation, preventing discrimination, health and intergenerational justice parameters.

Anastasiades expelled Drusiotis from Presidential Palace

Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Anastasiades discharged Makarios Drusiotis from his post who caused crisis between Nicos AnastasiadesGreek-Russian relations with the book he wrote.

According to the Greek Cypriot daily Fileleftheros, Drusiotis’s mission as an advisor to the Greek Cypriot leader will come to an end at the end of September and the reason behind it is the book he wrote about the role of super powers in 1974 which caused a big reaction of the Russian Ambassador to  South Cyprus.

Fileleftheros reported that Drusiotis will be appointed to Brussels to work at the office of the new Greek Cypriot Commissioner – Hristos Stilianidis.
