Girne Culture and Arts Festival 2014

Following an invitation from Lawrence Floyd to members of the 
English language media to attend a press conference, I went along to the Girne Belediyesi Press Conference in the Colony Hotel on Thursday 29th May to see the Girne Mayor, Mr Sumer Aygin, give a presentation together with his committee of the 2014 Culture and Arts Festival which will be held throughout June.
This Festival will run from the 1st of June until the 27th June and the respective musical and theatrical shows will be performed in the Girne Amphitheatre, Ramadan Cemil Square ( Belediyesi Square) and tickets for the Amphitheatre shows can be purchased at the Girne Belediyesi offices or at the Amphitheatre on the night and will cost 25TL.
I had the good fortune to meet up with Lawrence Floyd and as many of our local readers will know, he has arranged many major Supper Club events here in North Cyprus for the Children in Need Foundation (CiNF) and as he had also been involved with bringing entertainers to 
perform at the Amphitheatre, Mehmet Ali Akcan who is responsible for the Amphitheatre for the Girne Municipality asked Lawrence to recommend acts and as a result of this we will see Desperado an excellent Eagles tribute band arrive and play on the 14th June and you can see the quality of their music by clicking here.
So we will be having a very good selection of musical performances to include Rock, Jazz, Blues, Reggae, Latin, Funk, Soul and traditional music plus Theatrical performances and interviews so every taste should be satisfied.
Whilst I was at the meeting I also spoke to Egemen Hasan Koc who is a promotor who previously was the media officer at the Eastern M
editerranean University and has been supporting the development of this latest Girne Culture and Arts Festival and has had selected the 3 Men Talk Show on 9th June when many guests will be interviewed on stage in the Amphitheatre. He has also been involved with staging events on behalf of the Famagusta Municipality in the ancient Salamis Amphitheatre plus arranging events for MAGEM which is an organization for young people and we will try to bring you news of their new events later in the year.
