CRISIS IN GREEK CYPRIOT GOVERNMENT DUE TO CYPRUS PROBLEM
According to Greek Cypriot press, the Leader of DIKO – Nikolas Papadopoulos stated to Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Anastasiades that they do not agree with him about the contents of the draft joint statement and in the event Anastasiades approves the joint statement, they would withdraw from the government.
According to Greek Cypriot daily Alithia and the other newspapers, in his statement following the meeting with Greek Cypriot leader Anastasiades at the Greek Cypriot Presidential Palace, DIKO Leader Nikolas Papadopoulos stated that they expect Anastasiades to keep his commitments and planned thesis towards DIKO.
PRESIDENT EROĞLU SPOKE WITH WILLIAM J BURNS
President Derviş Eroğlu had a telephone conversation with US Deputy Secretary of State William J. Burns.
According to the statement of the Presidential Press Office, the telephone conversation was held within the framework of his contacts with concerned participants related to the Cyprus problem.
FOREIGN MINISTER NAMİ TO MEET WITH FULE TODAY
Minister of Foreign Affairs – Özdil Nami is going to meet with EU Commissioner Responsible for Enlargement – Stefan Fule in Brussels today (7th February 2014).
Head of the EU Co-ordination Centre – Erhan Erçin and Foreign Minister’s Private Secretary – Hüseyin Özel will accompany Nami during the visit.
TALAT: “CYPRUS ISSUE WILL ABSOLUTELY BE SOLVED”
Stating that if the solution is let slide, even though it wouldn’t be impossible, it would be very hard, Talat stated that the Greek Cypriot side should not be allowed to gain time. Talat added that the call necessary for the leaders’ coming together to prepare the joint statement should be made without any delay.
Talat recorded that the joint statement could be easily written through face to face meetings rather than through reporters, special representatives or interlocutors thus less excuses could be made.

FM Nami and British High Commissioner Matthew Kidd discussed the issues of the Cyprus problem and bases during the meeting yesterday.
GREEK CYPRIOTS PROTEST AGAINST BRITISH COUNCIL’S EDUCATION FAIR ORGANIZED IN TRNC FAILED
Greek Cypriot daily Fileleftheros has published that the British Council’s education fairs which have been organized in the TRNC for the last two years caused the Greek Cypriots’ reactions and the Greek Cypriots had made various initiatives, but they failed.
The newspaper wrote that the Greek Education Minister – Kiriakos Kenevezos has sent a letter to the Greek Cypriot Assembly and stated that the Turkish Cypriots could attend the fairs organized in South Nicosia every year about the universities in the UK.
A TURKISH CYPRIOT’S SUCCESS IN BRUSSELS
It has been stated that Erdem Erginel who works at Health General Directory at the European Commission has been promoted to the position as the responsible person for the EU’s affairs with the third world countries.
Erginel is attending the negotiations with non-member countries regarding the health issues as the representative of the EU and contributes to the decision making.
