It was stated that due to the statement of UN Secretary General Ban ki Moon made on the Cyprus issue in Munich the day before, South Cyprus will convey their protest to the office of the UN Secretary General via their Permanent UN Representative.

According to the Greek Cypriot radio RIK, Greek Cypriot Foreign Affairs Minister – Yoannis KIoannis Kasoulidesasulidis stated that the protest would be made due to the claims of the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon that negotiations were interrupted due to the Presidential elections held in South Cyprus and the economic crisis.

Stressing that these claims are not true, Kasulidis claimed that negotiations were interrupted by President Derviş Eroğlu due to South Cyprus taking over the EU Term Presidency; and the protest would be made due to Ban’s expression of the elections in the ‘Cyprus Greek Community.’

Asking how many years were needed for a Secretary General to learn which countries were the members of the UN, Kasulidis said that he did not want to believe that these statements were made on purpose.
