GAU IS NEAR TO ESTABLISHING A
SIGNIFICANT HEALTH PROJECT

Accordingly to the health institutions accreditation criteria of European Union Health Structures General Criteria and Joint Commission International (JCI), the endeavors to establish the significant health project of Green Hospital Complex, which to be the first in TRNC, are in progress via the protocol co-operated by Girne American University, Bilim University and Florence Nightingale Hospitals.
The manipulations referring to the ground breaking project in Health Systems and Services upon the technical and information utility of GAU and Florence Nightingale Hospitals were not favoured by the Advisor of Bilim University Rector Yavuz Tunç through the report to GAU Karmi News Agency.

Tunç reporting that there is no inconvenience regarding the protocol signed in the previous academic years by GAU, Bilim University and Florence Nightingale Hospitals, has also stated that some news referring to the issue are manipulative and baseless. Tunç emphasizing that technical and information utility will also be provided after the completion of the process, has also emphasized that they, as Florence Nightingale Hospitals and Bilim University, are honoured to co-operate in such establishments, thus co-operating with GAU.

GAU informed that the manipulated news by some news agencies regarding the endeavours to establish the significant health project of the Green Hospital Complex accordingly to the health institutions accreditation criteria’s of European Union Health Structures General criteria and Joint Commission International (JCI), which is to be the first in TRNC, are in progress via the protocol co-operated by Girne American University, Bilim University and Florence Nightingale Hospitals, are been tracked down.
It has also been reported by GAU that beneficial competition amongst universities has been derogatory and these are indeed ominous efforts. GAU called upon common sense and as well reported that the protocol is in progress thus aiming to provide communal benefit with regard to health. The groundbreaking ceremony will be held in the 30th Year of the Establishment of TRNC in the second half of November.

Initial approaches held upon the co-operation amongst GAU, Bilim University and Florence Nightingale Hospitals on the basis of European Union Health Structures General Criteria and Joint Commission International health institutions accreditations criteria to run the first of Green Hospital Complex in TRNC. This co-operated project will commence a new era in Health Systems and Services.
The Chancellor’s Office of GAU announced that the Turkish Cypriot community will benefit from the quality and international standard health services with the project to be co-operated under GAU Florence Nightingale “Smart Health” Health Complex and Medical Centre which will orientate the highest level in the field of international medicine.
Press had also participated in the meeting which was also attended by the Founding Rector and Chancellor of the Board of Administrators Serhat Akpınar, GAU CEO and Vice-Chancellor of the Board of Administrators Dr. Asım Vehbi, Vice-Chancellor of the Board of Administrators Olgun Üstün and Cemile Esenyel, GAU Rector Prof. Dr. Yıldırım Öner, Member of the Board of Administrators of Florence Nightingale Hospitals Yavuz Tunç and Rector of Bilim University Prof. Dr. Çavlan Çiftçi, Head of Constructional Works and Technical Office Erdoğan Akpak, Project Architect Fevzi Özersay and Senior GAU Authorities.
A trademark in global medicine, the Florence Nightingale Hospital will consist of Policlinics of Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Orthopedic, Gynecological diseases, Dermatology, Neurology, Otorhinolaryngology, Pediatric and Urology also full-equipped operating theaters, Emergency Service, Gynecology, Dialysis Center, In Vitro Fertilization Center, Physical Treatment and Rehabilitation Center, Geriatrics and Elderly Care Center, Addiction Recovery and Rehabilitation Center, Diagnosis Center; Radiology, Mammography, Tomography, MR, Bone Density, Ultrasound, Bio-chemical laboratory, Micro-biology, Halter (rhythm/tension), Effort/Echo, X Ray, Endoscopy, Colonoscopy services, Healthy Living and Beauty Centre; Healthy Diet, Combat Obesity, Orthopedic, Neurologic, Hand, Cardiac therapies and will be built on an area of 56.000 m2 on a green field.

Akpınar stated that they, as the GAU Global Science Family, feel honoured to establish such a significant project on behalf of the country and the health system. Akpınar also underlined that GAU Florence Nightingale ‘Smart Health’ Health Complex and Medical Centre is focused to contribute to the necessities of health in line with communal benefit and communal services.
The construction of the complex is planned to be completed by 2015. Akpınar also stated that the project, which will be undertaken by GAU, is regarded as significant due to its future contribution for the rational, scientific, humanist and communal needs of the country.
Akpınar thanked all press and public opinion leaders for their participation and also thanked those who had contributed to the process of the project.

Referring to the question answered in the press conference, the member of the Board of Administrators of Florence Nightingale Hospitals, Yavuz TUNÇ, has stated that the institution will hold 6 hospitals under its management. Tunç also underlined the honour for establishing such a hospital in the TRNC together with GAU. Tunç emphasized the excitement they have for the project which is to be undertaken and also added that Girne and all Cyprus will appreciate the health services which are to be provided in line with the completion of the project.
