EROĞLU:” WE WOULD LIKE TO SOLVE THE CYPRUS PROBLEM AND REMOVE IT FROM THE AGENDA”

TRNC President Derviş Eroğlu has said that he knows the Turkish Cypriot people desire an administration where they can live in peace and security and show their free will and he works in this way.

Eroğlu expressed that the Turkish Cypriot side would like to continue the negotiations with a good will to solve the problem this year or the following year and remove this problem from the agenda.

Speaking during the reception of the President of Gazi Mağusa Mukthars’ Association, Mustafa Yesilleme, and the accompanying delegation, President Eroğlu stated that there can be problems in each country, they can be solved and added that it is important to pave the way for an agreement at the negotiation table that will guarantee the Turkish Cypriot people’s future.

According to the written statement by the Presidency, Eroğlu thanked the mukthars for their support and stressed that the Cyprus case is a national case.

Stating that he is continuing to call the Greek Cypriots to come to the negotiation table and continue the negotiations, Eroğlu continued:

“We are inviting them to an unconditional negotiation process, but they are playing for time with impossible desires.  According to the Turkish Cypriots, the last chance regarding the Cyprus problem should not be missed. We, as the Turkish Cypriot side, would like to continue the negotiations with a good will to solve the problem this year or the following year and remove it from the agenda.

Stating that solution of the Turkish Cypriot side is obvious and if the Greek Cypriot side sits at the negotiation table in good faith, the problem will be solved, President Eroğlu said “However our Greek neighbours still believe that they will realize their dream of returning back to pre-1974”.

Eroğlu, who stated that a lot of water has flowed beneath the bridge and a lot of changes have been experienced in North Cyprus and South Cyprus in the last 40 years, pointed out that they are in search of an agreement in the light of the existing realities.

President Eroğlu also said that he knows the problems experienced by the local councillors or ‘Mukhtars’ and added that he will share the information given by the mukthars with the government.  He also pointed out that he will do his best for the solution of problems of the mukthars.

PEACE STEPS OF FRENCH CAILLEAU AND GERMAN LISOWSKI FROM TRNC TO THE WORLD

French Paulin Cailleau and German Magadalena Lisowski who have have been travelling through the Middle East and Asia on foot for  ‘World Peace” are in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus now.

Cailleau and Lisowski are continuing their walking in TRNC after having travelled through Romania, Bulgaria and some parts of Turkey on foot, the walk had started in Vienna within the framework of a project named “Steps for Peace” prepared by German Thomas Heinrich Schmöckel.

Peace walker Paulin Cailleau who spoke to BRT, Turkish Cypriot State TV and Radio, stated that they will walk from Lapta to Güzelyurt and they will cross to South Cyprus after visiting Sheikh Nazım in Lefke.
