Poetry and Poppies – Poetic Mapping – Walking into Art

Poppies and Poetry

One of the nice things about writing in a blog is that so many people read what you and helpers are writing and some readers do make comments which makes the effort of writing so worth while.

I have just received a comment on one of our articles from Ann Isik a freelance writer and artist and she also writes a blog which I have also seen.

Having been involved in writing recently about the Royal British Legion, Kyrenia Branch visit to Gallipoli and also gearing up to write about the Poppy Appeal event here in North Cyprus, I felt compelled to share with our readers a beautiful page from Ann’s Blog.

I leave it to you to read Poetry and Poppies  and you may have the same thoughts that I had.

  1. Thank you Chris for visiting my blog and for your kind comments. I think I can now say that in the last three days I have ‘received’ three ‘poppies’. Divine Intervention if ever I saw it!

As you will have guessed, my marital name is Turkish, though my Turkish/British husband is not from Cyprus. My husband and I were expats too, for about 15 years, until a couple of years ago. Expat life can be difficult and isolating, so I perhaps appreciate more than some the true value of what you and your blogging team are doing, especially in respect to integration.

Sports and The arts provide ideal opportunities for this and I was interested to read about the Kyrenian Chamber Choir. I sing soprano with Rochester Choral Society. If I get over to Cyprus one day I’ll make them let me sing with them!

Good luck with your ‘Poppy’ competition for the Royal British Legion.

    Ann
