Cycle Cyprus Challenge – Day 2

Karpaz to Dhekelia

It would have been nice to have been able to follow the team all the way on their journey.  They did in fact say that Chris could have continued with them as there would not have been a problem with accommodation, but unfortunately he would not have had time to arrange to put this into operation so had to decline.   Elysia has promised to give us updates each day so we can share these with people visiting this site.  Of course, we will be there at the finish on the 9th September, so will be able to give a good account of the last few kilometres.

Elysia’s Diary

Nearly finished Day 2 people! Slightly exhausted but we are enjoying ice cream in Ayia Napa before heading to Dhekelia. All going well, on target and still smiling!   Will post a blog tonight when we are in Pyla for dinner.

Epic epic day today. 176 kilometers covered of undulating terrain and in 39 degrees heat. Everyone still in one piece, a few solid brick walls hit along the way but team-work got us all through. Verity had a crash in the last 10k, nice swollen grazed knee but she got back on and finished the day. Currently taking protein drinks, stretching and doing bike admin before having an evening meal at the Village Tavern in Pyla. Support crew have been awesome and everyone is doing incredibly well. Looking forward to seeing a few friendly faces this evening before an early night and then another long day on riding tomorrow.  2 Days down, 1 to go! Keep the sponsorship coming in people, this challenge is yet to get harder!

To sponsor the team and contribute to ABF – The Soldiers’ Charity visit www.justgiving.com/Elysia-Ridley  You can also visit their fundraising webpage www.justgiving.com/teams/cyprusriders

I have noted from the site that as at the end of the day on 6th September, the fund is up to £2,474.63 which is 99% of the target.
