NEGOTIATIONS FOR THE UNIFICATION OF CYPRUS HAS COME TO A VIRTUAL DEADLOCK
FOREIGN MINISTER ÖZGÜRGÜN: “CURRENT PROCESS OF NEGOTIATIONS FOR THE UNIFICATION OF CYPRUS HAS COME TO A VIRTUAL DEADLOCK BECAUSE OF THE INTRANSIGENCE AND UNCOMPROMISING GREEK CYPRIOT POLICIES”
Foreign Minister Hüseyin Özgürgün’s statements during his meeting with foreign journalists in July were published in the Times of Oman newspaper.
Özgürgün briefed foreign journalists who were in the Turkish Republic 
of Northern Cyprus to attend the 20th of July Peace and Freedom Day celebrations.
The Times of Oman which is one of the prestigious newspapers in the Middle East quoted Foreign Minister Hüseyin Özgürgün as saying that the current process of negotiations for the unification of Cyprus, has come to a virtual deadlock because of the intransigence and uncompromising Greek Cypriot policies.
The paper wrote that the TRNC, which has been formally established in 1983 is a fully democratic state and peace exists on both sides of the island.
