Girne International Cartoon Contest Awards

The 13th International Cartoon Contest, traditionally organized within the scope of the 23rd International Olive Festival – Olive Humour Festival 2024 by Girne Municipality and the Cyprus Turkish Cartoonists Association, has concluded.

The Grand Prize in the 13th International Cartoon Contest was awarded to Saeed Sadeghi from Iran. In the “Olive” themed category, Doru Axinte from Romania won the First Prize, Firuz Kutal from Norway won the Second Prize, and Oleksiy Kustovsky from Ukraine won the Third Prize.

In the “Free Theme” category, Ivailo Tsvetkov from Bulgaria won the First Prize, Mete Ağaoğlu from Turkey won the Second Prize, and Slobodan Butir from Croatia won the Third Prize.

The contest, which received 543 entries from 149 cartoonists representing 40 countries, was judged at the Girne Municipality Art Gallery from July 1st to 4th, 2024, under the honorary chairmanship of Girne Mayor Murat Şenkul and the International Jury Members consisting of M. Serhan Gazioğlu (Cyprus), Kemal Özyurt (Turkey), Elif Atamaz (Cyprus), Olena Tsuranova (Ukraine), Fahriye Çıtaklı (Turkey), Musa Kayra (Cyprus), Zafer Tutkulu (Cyprus), Sergii Riabokon (Ukraine), and Hüseyin Çakmak (Cyprus).

Special awards were also granted in both the “Olive” and “Free Theme” categories. The winning artworks of the 13th International Cartoon Contest will be exhibited at the International Olive Festival in Zeytinlik village in October.
