The Poppy Appeal fortnight will soon be upon us and we have a few things in store for you..

The Poppy Appeal is the Royal British Legion’s biggest fundraising campaign held every year in November, the period of Remembrance. Our main fundraising events during the Poppy Appeal are all about bringing communities together to fundraise and enjoy themselves in the process.

The first Poppy Appeal was held in 1921. The poppies sold out almost immediately and raised over £106,000; a considerable amount at the time.

Our Poppy Stall will be in Girne Town Centre on Thursday 24th and 31^st October … between 11am and 3pm.

Come down for your Poppy and have a chat with our Volunteers who will be there to help you, we will be happy to see you.

Alternative Race Night at the Olive Press, Lapta.

Sunday 13th October 2019 – The Catalkoy Poppy Walk  5k.

Starting and finishing at The Grease Monkey in Catalkoy, everyone is welcome. If you don’t fancy walking the route then come and have a drink and maybe something to eat, we will have Poppy pins and other RBL merchandise for you to purchase for a donation.

Registration : 10am at The Grease Monkey –  20TL.  Walk starts at 10.45am

Sunday 27th October 2019 – The Lapta Poppy Walk.

Starting and finishing at Ozzie’s Place, Lapta.

Registration : 9.30am – 20TL.  10km walk starts at 10.45am, 5km walk starts at 11am.   For further information contact Rachael on 0533 883 8166.

Food and Drink available, Raffle, Music with Wonkey Donkey.

Friday 8^th November 2019 – THE POPPY BALL

PLEASE NOTE change of venue to The Merit Crystal Cove Hotel, Alsancak.

We are looking into the possibility of supplying a Coach to the venue, if you would be interested in this please let us know when booking/purchasing your tickets.

Sunday 10^th November 2019 – Remembrance Service at The Old British Cemetery, Girne.

Followed by Remembrance Lunch at the Ship Inn, Karaoglanoglu at 2pm.  3-course lunch 90TL, 20% discount on all drinks.

 FOR THE EIGHTH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE KYRENIA  BRANCH OF THE ROYAL BRITISH LEGION TO BE HELD ON MONDAY, 21ST OCTOBER 2019  AT 5.30PM IN THE SHIP INN HOTEL, KARAOGLANOGLU

All members are requested to attend this important Annual General Meeting and to bring a valid membership card to ensure you will be able to vote.

The final Agenda will be forwarded to you during the week prior to the AGM.
