Minister of Tourism and Environment Ünal Üstel pointed out that tourism is a sector which is integrated with antiquities and museums.

Üstel explained that completion of unfinished projects will be carried out and an initiative implemented to make payments to tourism agencies, and these payments will be made as soon as possible.

Referring to environmental problems, Üstel said that studies have been initiated on the continuous wastewater monitoring system (SAIS) and these will be completed as soon as possible.

Explaining that the work of the blue card application is continuing, Üstel  stressed that the results of this will be shared with the public as soon as possible.

Referring to the issue of storage of hazardous wastes Üstel said that they are working on a project to gather all of these in one place and destroy them without damaging the environment and at least 50% of the project will be completed in July.

Üstel said that Girne Ancient Port is under the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, and the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation, and that the necessary studies on environmental pollution in the port are being carried out.

Pointing to the acquisition of dormant mansions in the Lefke region, Üstel said that a number of strategic studies have been initiated to develop special interest tourism in Lefke.
