North Cyprus Cricket with NEU back on track and A1 Cyprus celebrating their 1st Victory

In a sensational second week of the 2017 TRNC Creditwest Autumn Cricket League, the first match was held between A1 Cyprus Cricket Club and Ozanköy Cricket Club. A1 Cyprus Cricket Club Captain, Ali Bajwa having won the toss and elected to field first.
Ozanköy made a very poor start when they lost their first two wickets in just two overs for 9 runs but the Ozanköy drama didn’t finish there as they continued to lose wickets until they were all out on 72 runs in 15 overs.
In reply to the 72 runs, the A1 Cyprus Cricket Club made a wobbly start, when they were 6 wickets down for 44 runs, but it was a match winning partnership between Firdos Iqbal, who scored 17 runs and Muhammad Sadam, who scored 6 runs to win their first match in the 2017 TRNC Creditwest Autumn Cricket League.
In the second match of the TRNC Creditwest Autumn Cricket League, Near East University Captain Masroor Ahmed won the toss and elected to bat first, against Rising Stars Cricket Club.
Sohail Zikeria and Captain – Masroor Ahmed came to the crease to open the innings and made a very solid start for the NEU team but lost their first wicket of Captain Masroor Ahmed with 22 runs and then NEU had a total of 48 runs in the 5th over with the loss of one wicket. Most of NEU players participated but clearly it was Sohail Zekeria’s show as he scored 37 runs on 27 balls and with the help of that and NEU team members, they succeeded to achieve a defendable total of 144 runs in 20 overs.
In reply to 144 runs Rising Stars Cricket Club had a wobbly start but opener Salman Khan, scored 22 runs and Shabir Khan scored 15 runs giving some hope to Rising Stars. It was match turning point, when Captain Masroor Ahmed took a very important wicket of Rising Stars Salman Khan, after that none of the Rising Stars resisted in front of NEU bowling and they were all out on 81 runs in 16 overs. NEU had their first victory in 2017 TRNC Creditwest Autumn Cricket League.
Next Sunday the 15th of October, the 1st Match between STAR CRICKET CLUB LEFKOSA vs LAPTA ELEVEN will be at 09:30am and the 2nd match between the GENTLEMEN OF GIRNE vs RISING STARS CRICKET CLUB at 13:00pm at the Bellapais Sports Ground.
