The Main Event with Denise Phillips
and
Jarra Brown MBE
and 46 Miles
By Denise Phillips……
We had a visit this week to the Bayrak International Main Event studio in Lefkosa from Jarra Brown MBE he came to talk to us about the publication of his book 46 Miles.
A former Army Commando soldier, Jarra joined the police in 1990, serving 22 years and retired in March 2012. He was the instrumental link between the Police and the military over the repatriations through Wootton Bassett and was awarded the MBE in 2011 New Year’s Honours List.
46 Miles is a about a town which captured the hearts of the UK nation and whose emotions rippled the entire 46 mile journey of honour, dignity and respect into Oxford. It is dedicated to those 345 people who, having signed up to serve their Queen and country, paid with their lives. Wootton Bassett, who nurtured the grieving on every occasion, wanted to let the nation know that these heroes will never be forgotten.
Do join Jarra and I on the Main Event this week on Saturday 9th May at 15.00pm when you can hear some of the very touching songs Jarra selected in memory of some of the the fallen heroes who were returned to the UK for burial. You can reach this show wherever you are online by following the links below.
This show will also be repeated on Sunday 10th May at 11.00am to 12.00 noon.
Happy listening and do have a great week
