It was with great sadness and disappointment this year that we were unable to attend and record for our many readers the Esentepe Fun Run and Ramble 2015 but we were delighted to have received a write-up by Sue Steel a member of the EFRaR committee plus we have been able to include some of pictures by the Carrington Group of the event together with a splendid video made by Graham Brown who runs the website Esentepe Community click here.
Esentepe Fun Run and Ramble 2015

THE fifth Esentepe Fun, Run and Ramble 2015 was hailed as a success by the organising committee with estimated numbers of over 500 participants taking part.
The event, which took place on Sunday, 5th April attracted not only runners and walkers but the First lady, Meral Eroğlu, Health Minister Ahmet Gülle, 
several Parliamentary ministers and municipality mayors, along with the Commander of Turkish Army, Ethem Çetinarslan, and many soldiers from Lefkoşa and a bus load of Güzelyurt participants who all attended to lend their support to the Association.
The Association President, Raziye Kocaïsmaïl said: “Each year the Fun Run gets bigger and better and we are so grateful for all the effort that is put in to raise money for the Association. This year, we brought even more walkers, along with stalls and children’s rides which all added to the success of the day. We were delighted to have so many dignitaries come along to support the Association too.”
Can Gazi of BRT assisted Mary Watson to make all the announcements in Turkish and English and there were Turkish speakers on the registration and start line.
The winner of the 2km run was Taygun Dervish, the 5km run was won by Matthew Gould and Mehmet Menek won the 8km for the second consecutive year.
Art Watson, Chairman of the EFRAR 2015 Committee said: “This was by far the best Fun Run we 
have undertaken and we were particularly delighted with the number of children who took part this year. As with any event of this size, there were a few slight hiccups but nothing we could not overcome. We would like to thank all our sponsors, big and small, with special thanks to our main sponsor, Carrington’s, without whose support this race would not take place, CESV, all the traders who helped to make it a family day out, the marshals, the participants, the supporters and of course the Association’s supporters who also walked on the day.
Money from our sponsors is still coming in and we expect to be in a position to confirm the final total within the next two weeks but we are confident it will be a substantial amount of money.”
We are all now looking forward to the Entertainment Evening at Stevie’s bar and restaurant in Küçük Erenköy on Tuesday, 14th April when we will have an auction, a raffle and entertainment provided by Andrews sings…. It will be a great night and there are a few places left so if anyone wants to come along they should contact Stevie on 0533 849 4744 to book their place.
