All the missing Turkish Cypriots were civilian

Gülden Plümer Küçük, Turkish Cypriot member of the Committee on Missing Persons, stated that all the missing Turkish Cypriots were civilian.

CMP and map imageTurkish Cypriot member, Gülden Plümer Küçük, Greek Cypriot member, Nestoras Nestoros, and the UN member, Paul-Henri Arni, of the Committee on Missing Persons held a press meeting at the anthropology laboratory at the UN buffer zone regarding the allegations that the family of a missing Greek Cypriot received bones of someone else in addition to those of their relative.

Stating that the identification is true, the members of the Committee recorded that they are more likely to have faults because of the DNA Test which could not be used on all the bones and their principle of giving bones more than 3-4 pieces to the families.

Küçük said that according to the list of missing persons, all the missing Turkish Cypriots were civilian and 25-28% of them were women and children, 12% of Greek Cypriots were women and children and 55% of them were Greek and Greek Cypriot soldiers.

State Planning Organization’s data shows that TRNC’s current account deficit decreased in 2013

According to the provided data from the State Planning Organization, TRNC’s current account deficit was 44.7 million Ödül Muhtaroğluin 2013 and this was the lowest level in the three years between 2011 and 2013.

After statistics have been made, it is forecast that due to the positive developments in tourism and university sectors, the current account deficit will be more regressed in 2014. According to yesterday’s statement of Ödül Muhtaroğlu, undersecretary of the “state planning organization”, the export-import coverage ratio was 9% in 2011, 7.2 % in 2012 and 7.1% in 2013.

Online gambling gang member arrested in Southern Cyprus

Online GamblingA Dutch citizen who is believed to be a member of the online betting gang, which is active in Netherlands,  UK, Germany, Austria and many other places,  was arrested by the Greek Cypriot police the day before yesterday.

Alithia newspaper indicated that the Dutch citizen is living in ‘Yermasoya’ town in Limassol and his car, money and special goods have been confiscated.

Cyprus cultural heritage was promoted in Rome by GAU

Girne American University (GAU) International Centre for GAU logo smlHeritage Studies which was established in 2013 under the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Fine Arts was represented in the seminar entitled “Applied Researches For Cultural Heritage: Renewal and Restoration” at the Architecture House of Rome.

According to the statement of GAU, the seminar was organized by the Chamber of Architects of Rome, and within the collaboration of the Sapienza University of Rome and the University of Florence.
