Football and Santa

Turkish Cypriots are passionate about their football and no one is more enthusiastic than Joe Efe, the Manager of Ozanköy Football Club.
For the past three years Joe has spent most of his time coaching
his team of 15 to 18 year olds and now has 22 players in his squad. He has certainly had some success and last season, 6 of his players were accepted by major teams. Joe knows that for the team to do well and feel good about themselves they need the right equipment, decent football boots and a proper strip. He does most of his own fund raising and has organised a Bingo Night on 29th November at the Paradise Club in Çatalköy.
The Little Society of Kyrenia, which was established to improve the education, welfare and social lives of children on the island, are happy to support Joe. Last year they provided money for footballs and this year have contributed 1,600tl towards a new strip and raffle prizes for his Bingo Night.
At this time of year one thing even more important than football is Santa. A number of organisations help to make 
it an important time for children and have managed to persuade Santa to take some time out of his busy schedule to visit the TRNC to provide gifts for children.
The Little Society Of Kyrenia (LSOK) is delighted to have donated 1,896tl to the Friends of the TRNC Emergency Services for children’s presents for their Santa’s grotto which is at the Mountain View Hotel on the 7th and 8th of December and 1,500tl to the NCCCT for children’s presents and prizes for their Christmas Bazaar on the 14th December.
Both of these organisations do tremendous work during the year and make a real effort to make children feel special at Christmas.
