IACBE Conference held at GAU

 despite the Greek Cypriot

 efforts of restraint

IACBE (International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education) 2013 European Conference, hosted by GAU Faculty of Business and Economy, finalized following the Board of Administrators meeting.

GAU CEO and  Vice-Chancellor of the Board of Administrators – Asım Vehbi, commented  to GAU TV following the closing of the Conference.

Vehbi: “Greek Cypriot Officials have made efforts to restrain”

“The IACBE conference was held at GAU following the decision at last year’s IACBE meIACBE logoeting in Poland.  During the initiation of the phase there were a few concerns of a political nature. Like many other important events organised by GAU, the Greek Cypriot Administration has again put in efforts to restrain the endeavours of the organization. The efforts of restraint were on notional aspects like the claim of Turkish occupation of North Cyprus and that GAU is constructed on what is claimed to be Greek Cypriot land.”

Vehbi: GAU is the only IACBE Accredited University of Cyprus”

Vehbi also stated that GAU Business and Economy Faculty is the only IACBE Accredited Business Faculty of Cyprus. The conference held in GAU was successfully held despite all efforts of restraint. Following the conference significant decisions were taken during the meeting held. It is also an honour that decisions were taken at GAU.

The international IACBE conference which commenced following the opening speeches of IACBE President – Prof. Dr. Dennis N. Gash, GAU Business and Economy Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. İsmail Sıla, Rector Prof. Dr. Yıldırım Öner, GAU CEO and Vice-Chancellor of the Board of Administrators Assist. Prof. Dr. Asım Vehbi and YÖK Chair Advisor Prof. Dr. Nihat Erdoğmuş were continued on vocational education and applications on business programs.

Gash: “International Corporations Reinforced Alternation in Higher Education”

IACBE Chair Prof. Dr. Dennis N. Gash emphasizeProf. Dr. Dennis N Gashd in the opening speech that the aim of the conference is to empower multiculturalism in higher education and further stated that Internationalization directed business into worldwide alternation.

Gash, underlining that International Corporations Reinforced Alternation in Higher Education, has also stated that multiculturalism is beneficial to higher education.

Gash stating that it is his third visit to GAU, has also expressed his appreciation to GAU for hosting the conference.

Sıla: “Multiculturalism is Significant in Higher Education”

GAU Business and Economy Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. İsmail Sıla has drawn attention to multiculturalism in higher education.  Sıla also emphasized the 35% of economic contribution of higher education on the Northern Cyprus economy.  Sıla has underlined the negative impacts of political and economic embargoes on universities.

Sıla emphasizing the success of GAU to develop and internationalize despite the embargoes has also stated that GAU Business and Economy Faculty is accredited by IACBE, ECBE, YÖK and YÖDAK.

Sıla: “Universities must not only target the number of Students registered”

Sıla stating that Universities must not only target the number of students registered has also emphasized the importance of enhancing education quality.

İsmail Sıla further stated that research sources are an important factor to be supplied to Northern Cyprus universities in order to keep long term sustainability in higher education.

Öner: “GAU provides the opportunity to build an Island of Universities”

GAU Rector GAU Rector Prof. Dr. Yıldırım ÖnerProf. Dr. Yıldırım Öner opened his speech stating that GAU was established in 1985 and is the first private university of Cyprus.

Underlining that GAU provides the opportunity to build an Island of Universities, Öner also commented on University specifications.

Finally, stating that GAU is accredited by the most respected accreditation institutions, Öner wished for a successful and efficient conference.

Vehbi: “GAU is accredited by various International Institutions mostly by IACBE”

GAU CEO and Vice-Chancellor of the Board of Administrators – Assist. Prof. Dr. Asım Vehbi, has stated that there are over 15,000 GAU graduates and currently educates over 10,500 students who are originally from 79 countries.  Vehbi also stated that there are academicians from 34 different states and that GAU education is English language based and provides multicultural, friendly and supportive academic and administrative staff.

Vehbi stated that most of GAU departments GAU CEO and Vice-Chancellor of the Board of Administrators - Assist. Prof. Dr. Asım Vehbiare accredited by various International Institutions mostly by IACBE and that GAU provides new, original and successful business education and expands its success in its overseas campuses.

Vehbi underlined that “This conference is conducted in the laboratory of multiculturalism. North Cyprus and especially GAU is an exemplary friendly melting-pot for various cultures.”

Finally,  Vehbi explained further on university opportunities and added that GAU holds corporations with over 150 international universities and memberships to various international associations.

Erdoğmuş: “Multiculturalism is significant for Turkish Higher Education”

Erdoğmuş stated in his speech that multiculturalism is significant for Turkish Higher Education and drew attention to internationalization, accreditation and academic staff.

The Conference was attended by the Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry – Hilmi Akil, YÖDAK Chair – Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Gökçekuş and many other scientists from various countries.

The International IACBE Accreditation Conference continued until Friday 25th of October covering development and business application programs.
