Devon comes to Rafters

I had booked a table at Rafters Restaurant in Ozanköy for the 18th September as this was my sist
er’s birthday and I knew Devon (aka Mr Rodeo) would be performing that night. Two of our old neighbours who have returned to the UK were here on holiday so they joined us as well as some friends also on holiday and another permanent resident who had intended bringing her visitors but unfortunately one of them had become unwell so her friends had to bow out at the last minute. That was a shame because they missed a really good evening’s entertainment.
Our group met up at Rafters, having all come from different directions, and we made a nice party both for the birthday celebration and the varied repertoire of Devon with 
his country music and old favourites making it a very enjoyable evening either to just listen to or, for the more energetic, to get up and dance, rock and roll or slow smoochy music, it was all there in Devon’s inimitable style.
The Rafters’ staff were very busy with a very full dining area, outside of course on a pleasantly warm evening, and we were able to enjoy a nice meal and listen to Devon’s music and ad-libbing which he is very good at.
We had been to see Devon the previous week at another venue as we had visitors at that time, and I took the opportunity of telling him that I had booked Rafters for the birthday treat and perhaps he would do something to highlight the occasion. He didn’t let me down and on quite a few occasions he descended on my sister with some joke or another, all in good fun. It made a nice evening and the highlight was when we were asked to sing Happy B
irthday and Abbas appeared with a lovely cake. Thank you Abbas for that very thoughtful gesture.
Following the entertainment we all drifted off to our various destinations and we said goodbye to Devon and wished him a good trip the following day when he was flying off to do some performances in Holland and Germany, but he will be returning to North Cyprus and will be appearing again at Rafters on the 25th and 30th September, before returning to the UK where he has a very busy schedule lined up both there and in other countries.
We shall probably have to wait until next year for a return visit and I am sure Devon will be very warmly welcomed back to North Cyprus.
