GAU 27TH YEAR GRADUATES CELEBRATE

Diplomas were granted for those 625 students who graduated from GAU 2012-2013 academic programs of undergraduate, post-graduate and doctorate degrees with the ceremony held in Girne Amphitheatre.

The Minister of Tourism Environment and Culture, Ünal Üstel, General Chief of Police, Ahmet Zaim, President of Higher Education Planning, Evaluation, Accreditation and Co-ordination Council, Hasan Ali Bıçak, Girne District Governor, Gürkan Kara, GAU President of Board of Trustees, Memduh Erdal, GAU Chancellor of Board of Administrators, Serhat Akpınar, GAU CEO and Vice-Chancellor of Board of Administrators, Dr .Asım Vehbi, Vice-Chancellors of Board of Administrators, Olgun Üstün and Cemile Esenyel, GAU Rector, Yıldırım Öner, executives, academicians, students and parents have all participated in the ceremony.

The ceremony commenced with a moment of silence followed by the National Anthem and Gau in the Girne Amphitheatre smlthen speeches held by President of Higher Education Planning, Evaluation, Accreditation and Co-ordination Council, Hasan Ali Bıçak, GAU Chancellor of Board of Administrators, Serhat Akpınar, GAU CEO and Vice-Chancellor of Board of Administrators Dr. Asım Vehbi, GAU Rector Yıldırım Öner.

The ceremony also presented awards for the most successful GAU Academician of the Year; the Principal of GAU Foundation School Hatice Asvaroğlu and most successful administrative staff; GAU Executive Assistant of GAU Chancellorship of Board of Administrators Asuman Akmanlar.

Following the speeches the GAU Music Band performed while GAU American College student Türkan Kürşathas sang during the evening.

Ezgi Deniz Ülker and Hüseyin Bozdağlar have both been presented with Medal of Honour by GAU CEO and Vice-Chancellor of Board of Administrators Dr. Asım Vehbi for completing their undergraduate, post-graduate and doctorate degrees in GAU.

Post-Graduate student of GAU International Relations Yağmur Bahram gave a speech on behalf of all graduates.

The ceremony ended after presenting diplomas to the students completing programs of undergraduate, post-graduate and doctorate.

BIÇAK

President of Higher Education Planning, Evaluation, Accreditation and Co-ordination Council Prof. Hasan Ali Bıçak congratulated all graduates of GAU 27th year graduation and also emphasized that this success is achieved via significant contribution of the Board of Trustees, Board of Administrators, academicians, students and families.

Hasan Ali Bıçak also underlined that GAU is different from other universities through its unique world standard infrastructure, curriculum and academicians of various countries.  Bıçak also emphasized that graduates are holding significant chances to be successful in their future lives for being a graduate of GAU.

AKPINAR

GAU, Chancellor of Board of Administrators, Chancellor Serhat Akpinar - A very proud man smlSerhat Akpınar, called upon all GAU graduates of 2012-2013 spring that  “We are honoured with you, we have full faith that you will all at all times preserve all your bounded values”.

Serhat Akpınar also underlined that there are efforts to form a legal basis in the international perception for name similarity with GAU which builds ambiguity and Akpınar also stated that a legal procedure will be commenced to undermine unfair competition.

Akpınar finally warned that this problem is not merely a problem for the University but may also be for the graduates during their future lives.

VEHBİ

Vice-Chancellor of Board of Administrators Dr. Asım Vehbi congratulated all of the graduates and emphasized that each graduate is part of the GAU Family and hoped that all graduates will always remember their time in the TRNC.

ÖNER

GAU Rector Prof. Yıldırım Öner congratulated all graduates and families and wished them all healthy, successful and happy lives.
